This week saw our first visit to Legoland Windsor (look out for a full review in coming days) and one of the dramatic parts of our visit was the Pirates of Skeleton Bay Stunt Show. This photo captured one of the most spectacular moments of the display as a huge explosion sends the pirates off the top of the lighthouse.

Pirates jumping from lighthouse and explosion

I caught this using the burst mode of my camera, capturing a bunch of photos as the scene developed. A slower shutter speed would have given more of a feeling of movement but this shows the acrobatic skills of the cast. An impressive display.

Haven’t been to Legoland for a couple of years but it is amazing. What an amazing moment to capture too, great use of burst mode! #MySundayPhoto

Thanks John. I’m intending to make full use of the preschooler ticket. I was trying to capture some of the action packed moments so I was pleased when it all came together for this one

It was the first visit to Legoland for us. Really enjoyed it. We’re fortunate to be reasonable local.

3-year-old Tilly was entertained throughout the 20 minute or so show. There was plenty of action even if little ones aren’t necessarily following the storyline

The sunny day helped as I could use a fast exposure to grab the detail, while at the same time using the camera’s burst mode to choose the right instant from. Thanks for visiting.

Legoland is the sort of place that’s best appreciated with some planning. So much to see in a day!

Love seeing this at the end of the pirate show (although Jessica doesn’t like the loud bangs so I don’t get to see it so often these days) – what a fabulous capture of the acrobatics and the explosions 🙂

It was the first time we’d seen it so I didn’t know when to expect a finale but had a feel it was approaching. Happily I fired the camera at the right moment to capture it.
